The Property

This unit in Somerville is a 1,140 sq ft, 4-bedroom apartment that balances classic New England character with thoughtful modern updates. Dark wood trim, crown molding, and warm hardwood floors run throughout — the kind of architectural details that don’t exist in new construction. The signature bay windows in the living room and second bedroom flood the space with natural light and give every frame a sense of depth.

The kitchen was updated with white shaker cabinetry, subway tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, a gas range, and a movable butcher block island — a clean, functional contrast to the unit’s traditional bones. The two bathrooms each tell a different story: one with full blue ceramic tile and arabesque floors, the other with a glass-enclosed walk-in shower and dramatic marble-style stone surround panels.

The Shoot

This project was shot for Roomrs, a Boston-based furnished rental company. The brief was simple: capture the space accurately and completely — photos for the listing and a Matterport 3D tour so prospective tenants could explore every room before scheduling a visit.

The dark wood trim was the defining visual element throughout. It creates strong contrast against the white walls and kitchen cabinetry — and when the light comes through the bay windows, it warms up in a way that reads beautifully on camera. The challenge with a space like this is honoring both the traditional character and the modern updates without letting either one dominate.

Along with the photos, this project included a full Matterport 3D tour. Prospective tenants can walk through every room, measure spaces, and get a complete sense of the layout before ever stepping inside.
