Hospitality Photography | Lumen Nature Retreat, White Mountains NH

By the time I shot this project, Lumen wasn't a new place to me. This was my third time staying there. I already knew the light, the pace of the property, the way the pond catches the afternoon sun. When they reached out and asked me to create their photo and video content, it felt less like a job and more like an excuse to go back.

Lumen is a 20-acre glamping retreat in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, less than two hours from Boston. Four ways to stay: two Nordic cabins, luxury safari tents, and A-frame tents, all scattered across water, meadow, and forest. They have two private saunas, a luxury bathhouse, and the kind of quiet that makes you realize how loud your regular life is.

My wife came along and stepped in front of the camera for most of the lifestyle work. That made a difference. There is something about shooting someone you know in a place you both love that reads differently than a staged scene.

On one of the evenings we got a sunset that stopped everything. We put the shot list down and just shot it.

The project covered all four accommodations, the grounds, the saunas, and the pond, including the paddleboard which was a brand new amenity they had not yet launched. Five short-form reels shot on a gimbal, edited to music, no talking.

Lumen has since been named Best Glamping in New England by Boston Magazine and featured in the Boston Globe and NH Magazine.
