Ash + Timber — Yarmouth, Maine

Ash + Timber is a guest suite on three wooded acres in Yarmouth, Maine, designed by AAmp Studio, finished with terrazzo tile, warm wood tones, and a private cedar sauna. The kind of property where the architecture does the talking, and the photography just needs to get out of the way and let it.

The hero of this shoot was the exterior at dusk. The black board-and-batten facade against the amber glow of the windows and a pink sky gave us the kind of frame that stops the scroll. I timed the twilight sequence to hit the 15-minute window after sunset where the ambient light outside and the interior warmth are balanced , bright enough to read the building, warm enough to feel the invitation.

Inside, the challenge was the opposite: a very white, very open interior with large windows pulling in the Maine tree line. Too much natural light flattens a space like this. I worked the time of day and supplemented with off-camera lighting to keep the shadows soft and the wood tones visible without blowing out the windows.

The drone work captured what the listing description promises but photos alone can't show, three acres of private forest, the neighborhood approach, and the scale of the property relative to the tree line. That context matters when someone is deciding whether to book.

Why twilight matters for short-term rental listings

Most Airbnb listings lead with a bright, midday exterior. Twilight photography does something different, it sells a feeling. A property that glows from the inside, framed by trees and an open sky, looks like somewhere worth staying. It communicates warmth, privacy, and design intention in a single frame.
